Any gate which allows young children quick and easy access to a pool area is dangerous and should have a gate alarm. All pools should be fenced, but the weakest link in a fence is the gate. The Poolguard Gate Alarm comes with two magnetic switches, 6 foot of hookup wire, and operates on one 9-volt battery. The gate alarm has a delay switch which allows an adult to pass through the gate without the alarm sounding. When a child opens the gate, the alarm will sound in seven seconds and continue to sound; the alarm will sound in seven seconds even if a child should go through the gate and close the gate. If for any reason the gate is accidentally left open, the alarm will sound.
